- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the garlic slices to the skillet and sauté until golden brown, being careful not to burn them.
- Stir in the red pepper flakes and remove the skillet from the heat.
- Once the pasta is done, reserve 1 cup of the pasta water and then drain the spaghetti.
- Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the garlic oil and toss to combine. If needed, use the reserved pasta water to loosen the sauce.
- Add salt to taste and mix in the fresh parsley.
- Serve immediately with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
