- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water and drain the rest.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add sliced garlic and red pepper flakes, and sauté until the garlic is golden brown, being careful not to burn it.
- Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss it with the garlic oil.
- If the pasta seems dry, add a bit of reserved pasta water to achieve the desired consistency.
- Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Remove from heat and stir in chopped parsley.
- Serve the spaghetti with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, if desired.
